Visit to Bali

Review:Cahputra
Gua Gajah - Elephant Cave Welcome to Gua Gajah (Elephant Cave) which is located in west side of Bedulu countryside, Blah Batuh Sub district and Gianyar Regency. It is about 27 km from Denpasar town. This cave is built at crevasse edge from the federation of 2 rills that is called Pangkung River , where the irrigation is mixed with Petanu River flow. The federation area of two rivers is called Campuhan/Mixture. It owns the magical energy on the basis of Rwabineda Concept/two different matters on this basic concept hence Gua Gajah (Elephant Cave) is intentionally built among two rivers. Gua Gajah in Story The word of Gua Gajah is anticipated coming from the word of Lwa Gajah, the name of Buddhist Temple or hermitage for Buddhist monk. The Gua Gajah's name is written on Negarakeertagama papyrus which is compiled by Mpu Prapanca on 1365 M. Lwa or Lwah/loh mean the river and it reflect to the meaning that the hermitage is located at Gajah River or in Air Gajah. In the year inscription 944 Saka, it is mentioned with the name of ‘ser ring Air Gajah' that is meaning the Subak leader in Air Gajah. The word has mentioned that the hermitage of  Gajah Cave is located in Subak Air Gajah.

What to see? There is a relief which is almost looking like the form of mountain on the entrance of this cave. It was carved many designed on the relief like grove with the stick, close leaf, animal for example forest pig, tortoise and specters. The cave mouth is decorated by the bas-relief with the eye turn around to the right or west side. There is an article letter of Kediri type from the early of 11 century was written on the wall left side or east side. There is a pool (Patirthaan) as a place to take the holy Tirtha water for Hindu ceremony which is located in the middle of the cave courtyard. This Holy Pool is previously piled up by land and it has been found on 1954 by Krijgsman from the Ancient Department. The Holy pool is equipped by the statue douche which is parallel arranged in two groups. Tourist Destinations and Facilities Since it is appointed as tourist destination, Gua Gajah is many visited by tourist everyday due to it is strategically located on the main road Ubud – Kintamani. Kintamani Volcano Tour is one of the famous land tour in Bali usually put this tourist destination on the tour itinerary. It was well completed by public facilities like toilet, parking area and souvenir shops available.

Tirta Empul - Tampak Siring Temple Tirta Empul Temple or Tampak Siring Temple is a holy spring water temple located in Tampak Siring Village, Gianyar regency and it is about 39 km eastwards from Denpasar town. It is set in the dale and encircled by the hill. In the west side of this temple, there is an Indonesian President palace which has been found by the first president. The name of Tirta Empul is loaded in a inscription which is kept at Sakenan Temple, Manukaya village, Sub district of Tampak Siring, about 3 km from Tirta Empul Temple. In this inscription, the Tirta Empul is named by the Tirta Ri Air Hampul and then the name has changed into Tirta Hampul and finally become the Tirta Empul. Tirta Ri air hampul is meaning the water emerge or the holy pool (Petirthan) which is the water emerge from the land.
History of Tampak Siring or Tirta Empul The wellspring emerges from the land is believed that it is the infinite creation. According to the history, that, that this water source is arranged and sanctified by king Indrajayasinghawarmadewa in the year 882 Saka (960 M). He has given the name with Tirta ri air hampul. The data is loaded in the inscription that is located at Sakenan Temple. Besides of the above epigraphy data, in Tirta Empul Temple is also found the archaeology omission like Colossus Yoni, Arca Lion, Tepasana and Tirta Empul Pool. According to papyrus of Usana Bali narrated that Tirta Empul is created by Bhatara Indra (Sun Deity) when bearing arms against the king where his palace is located in Bedahulu Countryside. He is known as a very miraculous king, which he can lose or show suddenly, therefore he is named by Mayadenawa. Because of its miracle, he becomes the arrogance and expressing himself as a god. The Mayadenawa King owns the assistant (Patih) which is called Kalawong. They prohibit the people to do the Yadnya (praying to the god) so that is often happened the natural disaster, disease epidemic, agriculture fail and finally miserable life society. Finally Betara Indra (one of Hindu God) gives battle against the kings that happened in Tampak Siring and then the Mayadenawa is gone to the wall and disappear. Then Bathara Indra stick the weapon of Umbul-umbul and finally the water is emerging so that called by Tirta Empul and then it is passed to the dead and faint soldier that made them back to live. Beautiful beach in Bali
Bali has many great beaches - good for swimming, surfing, or just lounging on the sand. Some hotels and villages provide daily clean up and grooming of beaches. Also, the quality of a beach can change drastically between seasons, depending on the location of the beach and the direction it faces.
Bali's beaches are best during the dry season, from about April to October. During this period at beaches on the western coastal areas, such as Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Cangu and Jimbaran, erosion is minimal and the lack of wind or offshore winds keep the beaches clean and relatively calm. During the wet season, onshore winds deposits flotsam and garbage on the west facing beaches and constant clean up is needed. In addition heavy rains can deposit runoff around the beaches, particularly around run-off streams that flow into the ocean.

Elizabeth carried me happily along with her on her year long journey to three countries - Italy, India and Indonesia

EAT, PRAY, LOVE One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia.

Review:Shail_India
Early on in "Eat, Pray, Love," her travelogue of spiritual seeking, the novelist and journalist Elizabeth Gilbert gives a characteristically frank rundown of her traveling skills: tall and blond, she doesn't blend well physically in most places; she's lazy about research and prone to digestive woes. "But my one mighty travel talent is that I can make friends with anybody," she writes. "I can make friends with the dead. . . . If there isn't anyone else around to talk to, I could probably make friends with a four-foot-tall pile of Sheetrock."Here, Gilbert's subject is herself. Reeling from a contentious divorce, a volatile rebound romance and a bout of depression, she decided at 34 to spend a year traveling in Italy, India and Indonesia. "I wanted to explore one aspect of myself set against the backdrop of each country, in a place that has traditionally done that one thing very well," she writes. "I wanted to explore the art of pleasure in Italy, the art of devotion in India and, in Indonesia, the art of balancing the two." Her trip was financed by an advance on the book she already planned to write, and "Eat, Pray, Love" is the mixed result. At its best, the book provides an occasion for Gilbert to unleash her fresh, oddball sensibility on an international stage. She describes Messina, Italy, as "a scary and suspicious Sicilian port town that seems to howl from behind barricaded doors, 'It's not my fault that I'm ugly! I've been earthquaked and carpet-bombed and raped by the Mafia, too!' " Later, she sees a Balinese mother "balancing on her head a three-tiered basket filled with fruit and flowers and a roasted duck — a headgear so magnificent and impressive that Carmen Miranda would have bowed down in humility before it." Gilbert also takes pleasure in poking fun at herself. At an Indian ashram, she winningly narrates the play of her thoughts while she tries to meditate: "I was wondering where I should live once this year of traveling has ended. . . . If I lived somewhere cheaper than New York, maybe I could afford an extra bedroom and then I could have a special meditation room! That'd be nice. I could paint it gold. Or maybe a rich blue. No, gold. No, blue. . . . Finally noticing this train of thought, I was aghast. I thought: . . . How about this, you spastic fool — how about you try to meditate right here, right now, right where you actually are?""Eat, Pray, Love" is built on the notion of a woman trying to heal herself from a severe emotional and spiritual crisis; Gilbert suggests more than once that she was at risk for suicide.
But where she movingly rendered up the tortured inner life of Eustace Conway, the gigantically flawed subject of "The Last American Man," Gilbert has a harder time when it comes to Gilbert. Often she short shrifts her own emotional state for the sake of keeping the reader entertained: "They come upon me all silent and menacing like Pinkerton detectives," she writes of feeling depressed and lonely in Italy, "and they flank me — Depression on my left, Loneliness on my right. They don't need to show me their badges. I know these guys very well. We've been playing a cat-and-mouse game for years now. . . . Then Loneliness starts interrogating me. . . . He asks why I can't get my act together, and why I'm not at home living in a nice house and raising nice children like any respectable woman my age should be."But wait a second — Gilbert is a New York journalist who has spent the prior several years traveling the world on assignment. In her chosen milieu, it would be unusual if she were married and raising kids in a house at age 34 — by her own account, she left her husband precisely to avoid those things. I'm willing to believe that Gilbert despaired over having failed at a more conventional life even as she sought out its opposite — complications like these are what make us human. But she doesn't tell thge the paradox. As a result, her crisis remains a shadowy thing, a mere platform for the actions she takes to alleviate it."Eat, Pray, Love" suffers from a case of low stakes; one reads for the small vicissitudes of Gilbert's journey — her struggle to accept the end of her failed rebound relationship; her ultimately successful efforts to meditate; her campaign to help a Balinese woman and her daughter buy a home — never really doubting that things will come right. But even Gilbert's sassy prose is flattened by the task of describing her approach to the divine, and the midsection of the book, at the ashram, drags.GET THIS BOOK FREE.BUY SELL RENT BOOKS FROM THE LINK BELOW.

Lonely Planet: Indonesia

Review:aldocomet
I've just read the Lonely Planet: Indonesia I found at the motel's cafe. There are some articles that make me admire the writers. This book was written by some foreigners. I don't know how many times they spent in this country to write this book, but I know they know Indonesia much better than me.

I've been living here since I was born 24 years ago, that's mean I should to know most about my own country, but by reading this book, I know that I know nothing about my own country.
One opening article I like the most is about Top 10 Experiences when you spent your time in this country. For me, all the experiences look so simple, just like the way it should be happened. I don't realize how special that experiences in their eyes..

1. A beaming Indonesian smile-locals here are unfailingly happy and warm.
Well, this is I have to proud of my country. I'd been living in different places during these 24 years. From the entire place, I know how they are threat tourist. In some tourism area, they threat them as a King or Queen; they are trying to catch the tourist's eye about tourism potential at their area. They have to leave a good impression about their assets.
Besides of that, I know that Indonesian is very helpful people. We realize that we are not living in private area, we have neighbors, we have relatives, and usually Indonesian have a big family that cannot be ignored just for a while.
So, when we see a tourist among us, automatically, our lips will expand to show them our best smile.... :)

2. Spontaneous guitar-strumming sessions on street corners, warung, Pelni boats...
I will refer this to all minstrels (street musician) spread in all area of this country. We call them as 'Pengamen'. Usually they will be shown at warung (small restaurant) and traffic lights. Usually they're using a guitar or a small tambourine or just bunch of coins. But if you're lucky, you can meet some groups of street orchestra or maybe a talented Pengamen over the hundreds (thousands I thought) Pengamen like Aris, a train's Pengamen from bandung who became a winner of Indonesian Idol 2008. If you feel annoyed of their performance, just wave your hand or just give them some money and [usually] they will be gone. But if you like their performance, you can give them some extra money.
Usually people will be give Rp. 100-500,- if they hate their performance and Rp. 500-more if they love their performance.

3. Dancing poco-poco (Indonesian line dancing) at Maluku village disco.
Poco-poco is a line dancing like the dance in the lower class dancing shown in Titanic movie starring by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Sometimes they're using live music performance or just recorded music from CD or cassette (don't be surprised, we're still using cassette here). It usually held in wedding party or else. Poco-poco is a group dancing, so it will be great to see all the people in that group dance it fit one with others.

4. Taking your becak (bicycle-rickshaw) driver for a ride instead of the other way around
Becak is a traditional transport. It's a modified bicycle so the driver could transport more than 1 passengers, it could be 2 or more, depends on the negotiation. You can found a lot of becaks in Yogyakarta, Central Java. Usually, they will offer you a cheap trip using their Becak, but you will be delivered to some souvenir shops besides your original destination, because the will get some earnings from the shop because of delivering you there. But you can avoid theirs offers courtly if you don't like the idea.

5. Sharing your rambutans (a fruit like peach) and rupiah during impromptu card games on overnight ferries
Most of Indonesian areas are covered by water, so there will a plenty water transportations here including ferries. Like the ferries transportation from Bali-Lombok, it could be reached by ferries by 4-5 hours. It's open transportation for 24 hours. If you take a night ferry, there will be a numbers of truck/bus drivers. Usually they will play a little gambling card games to killing the time. If you're interested you can join in with them. It's a small gambling. They will use some little money to play or some food/fruits as the bet.

There are 5 other experiences I will share later to you..

Archipelago sketches his background and a little of the context within which Victorian naturalists and collectors worked

Archipelago: The Islands of Indonesia:

Review:hadisetyono
Unlike Darwin, Alfred Russel Wallace had to work for a living. Archipelago sketches his background and a little of the context within which Victorian naturalists and collectors worked, but its primary focus is on Wallace's travels , on his trip to the Amazon basin and above all the twelve years he spent travelling around the Indonesian archipelago. During that time Wallace struggled with illness and other dangers, but collected an immense number of animals and plants, exotic (orangutans and birds of paradise) and mundane. And his observations of diversity and geographical led him to innovative ideas about evolution and the origins of species, ideas which make him one of the founders of modern biogeography. Wallace's subsequent life is skimmed over quickly, then a final chapter looks at how things have changed since his time, at what it is like to work as a naturalist or anthropologist in modern Indonesia and at some of the conservation and environmental issues the country faces.

Most of Archipelago is taken up by colour photographs, mostly of flora and fauna and landscapes that Wallace might have seen, but also of the differing aspects of modern Indonesia. Though it includes mini-essays on topics such as the Wallace Line, marine biodiversity, and the modern debate over Darwin and Wallace's precedence with the theory of natural selection, it offers little concrete science.
If it is shallow in itself, however, Archipelago makes an excellent accompaniment to a book like Quammen's Song of the Dodo — or, I imagine, to Wallace's The Malay Archipelago, which I am now inspired to read. Lovina Beach Bali Indonesia, Nature Dolphins Attraction

Review:BrownCake
Lovina Beach is located in the north coast of Bali island, the distance of + / - 20 km west from Singaraja city. Lovina Beach famous for tourism object dolphins, so no wonder a statue shaped dolphins as + / - 5 meters was built near the tourism area entrance.

To see the dolphins attraction, visitors are expected to depart early in the morning once about dawn or after 6 o'clock local time.

Around 6 o'clock the morning, the boat that we used lips began to move clear of the beach. Slowly but surely with the motor engine begin moving toward to location where dolphins usually exhibit their attraction. During the 15-30 minute wait while we continue run the boat, hoping dolphins will appear. The atmosphere changed when suddenly our guidance shouted while pointing to location where a group of dolphins jump to the top of sea surface. The boat immediately run to near the location, and some other boat also moved towards. Truly, this is facinating because it is the first time I see the dolphins from a distance so close. Some of the dolphins with freely jump in the air to show the attraction that it is rare and not even in the other major tourist beaches it could be found. Reflectly the visitors busy with the "weapons" which brought, just to cover the scene. Camera and handycam start captured the event, we trying hard to record the best moment for dolphin attraction from which we could not suspected it will emergence. Attraction becomes more interesting when seen the small dolphins participate in exhibit they capability to jump around. Moreover, without suspected a group of dolphins suddenly appeared from the edge boat while doing attraction. Almost an hour to enjoy the attractions, and when the sun began to escalate, the dolphins then eventually disappear.

After the dolphins attraction, the guidance bring us to the location where the coral reefs can be seen quite clearly from the top of the boat. It’s like to see a giant aquarium clearly visible coral reefs and colorful fish swim around our boat. Events become more fun when we guidance issue crumb of bread, so it took us busy to feed the fish.
Sun and heat escalated, it is sign for us to travel back in this Lovina beach. Boat start moving slowly toward the coast.

The story of Atlantis continues to be a mystery since described the philosopher Plato more than 2000 years ago.

Maybe Atlantis Being in Indonesia?

Review:liewie
The story of Atlantis continues to be a mystery since described the philosopher Plato more than 2000 years ago. He describes Atlantis as a city that has a high culture, and nature is very beautiful. In his notes, Plato wrote of Atlantis lying opposite the pillars of Hercules and has a navy conquered Western Europe and Africa 9000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9500 years BC. After failing to attack Greece, Atlantis sank into the ocean in just one day and a night.
Atlantis is generally regarded as a myth created to illustrate Plato''s political theory. The story of Atlantis is less known in the Middle Ages, but, in the modern era, the story of Atlantis was rediscovered. Plato''s description inspired the works of Renaissance writers, such as the New Atlantis by Francis Bacon. Atlantis also affect the modern literature, from science fiction to comic books and movies. His name has become a byword for all the advanced prehistoric civilization and lost.
Research conducted by Santos Arysio surprising results. He called Atlantis in the territory of Indonesia. He wrote his findings in the book Atlantis, The Lost Continent Finally Found, The Definitive Localization of Plato''s Lost Civilization (2005). Atlantis was an island or a continent first mentioned by Plato in the dialogue work entitled Timaeus and Critias in 360 BC. Critias dialogue contains a lot of descriptive information about the characteristics of Atlantis.
Akeologi curator of history at the University of New York the most widely studied of Atlantis, Charles Orser called Google Earth discovery was very unusual. "This is the first time the most powerful location of Atlantis as described by Plato. It is worthy of further investigation," he said. He added Atlantis is one of the main goals of archeology in the world. If Atlantis is found, it will be the greatest achievement in history. Peter Birch, Google Earth Product Manager said it was a lot of great discoveries Google Earth.
For example, virgin forests in Mozambique coast line of reefs in Australia, and the rest of the ancient Roman settlement. But on the map underwater Atlantis is estimated as wrong. For that case, Birch said that users see trace data collection process. Bathymetric (sea surface) are often collected from a boat using sonar to measure the seabed. "The line reflects the boat as mengumpukan data," he said. Maybe Atlantis was located in Indonesia, as estimated by Santos. On the website he revealed atlan.org, in the past that Atlantis was a continent that stretches from southern India, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, to the east.
Plato''s theory explains that the continent of Atlantis was destroyed by the eruption of volcanoes erupting simultaneously. Among the most violent eruption was Krakatoa. Santos compare, a typical system pesawahan Indonesia, adopted by the Borobudur Temple, Pyramids in Egypt, and ancient buildings Aztecs in Mexico. Santos did research for 30 years to produce that conclusion.
